Last minute Christmas shopping

I realized on Saturday that Christmas was only a week away and that apart from the Birkenstocks that my siblings and I had bought for our parents, the box of Paperchase charity cards was still untouched on my desk and I would need to start sending out those for overseas mailing.

While I had originally planned for a lazy afternoon of kopi and Christmas shopping at Holland V, I decided on the bus that Orchard would be a more ideal location and convinced myself to brave the town crowd. Then came the realization that I was wearing very little make-up so I decided (again) that I would shop fast and head back to Holland V for my coffee.

I stayed much longer than I intended of course, since no one in town really cared how much colour I had on my face but how much money I had to spend. And so I wrote a list of people to bless this season (and it got longer and longer) but I figured Christmas only comes once a year.

I even treated myself to a hearty cup of cappucino at Lido McCafe and sat there reading Jodi Picoult and enjoying the cool after-rain weather and "That Thing You Do" soundtrack piping from the speakers planted around the terrace staircases.

And as usual, Miss Bookworm had to drop by Borders and got herself two new titles - Kim Edward's The Memory Keeper's Daughter and Janet Fitch's White Oleander. Add this to Milan Kundera's Laughable Loves and Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper which I got two weeks back and T is one very happy geek girl.
