Long vacation

These days Joe and I take turns to wake up late (think 6:20 for a 7 a.m. shift) and spend 15 minutes in a mad rush to get ready for work, panicking and cursing ourself for sleeping too late the night before. I put on my make up hastily after a quick shower while she does hers in the cab.

Our ride costs us each the price of a venti iced cafe mocha at Starbucks, and sometimes more if we need to call for one or get caught in bad traffic. Still we never seem to run out of things to talk about on our journey.

It's a self-perpetuating vicious cycle and leaves me completely exhausted by Friday evening.

Which is why I am glad I have another long break - am off work till next Thurs, and then I go back to work for a day on the 29th and am off again till the 3rd of January.

Everyone was in a holiday mood in the office and I had fun giving out the hand-written cards and thoughtfully bought gifts.

PT in particular received his first-ever Christmas gift (he is Thai) and was thrilled.

"You are soooo nice!" he exclaimed a few times and proceeded to rip apart the wrapper to reveal chocolate and then forcefully unseal the envelope and read the card in front of me. Naa rak maak!

Met briefly Ahred and his Japanese host family who were here on vacation , walking from City Hall to Bugis. Then I got on the train back to Raffles Place and had a nice meal with Z and Sam at Pasta Fresca Boat Quay by the Singapore River and discussed religion and male perspectives with them.

I was hopelessly yawning at 8:30 when we finished our spread, but I decided to join them for a quick drink at Hed Kandi, but it turned out a lot of GCUS people were there so we hung out and got a little photo crazy.
