The Yarra ranges
Taken at the Yarra Ranges in Victoria, AustraliaAfter a particularly stressful week for E and myself, we decided to go on a little road trip. It was nice to get away from the city and just go somewhere quiet without an itinerary to follow.
We got up early on Sunday and hit the road. We drove up to Healesville and through the Black Spur, the winding roads lined with trees that were charred black from the forest fires and so tall they almost reached the heavens. It was hauntingly beautiful, but the glaring sun made me unbearably sleepy and I slept a lot in the car while E kept his eyes on the road.
Next we drove up to Marysville to have coffee and scones, and saw how the community was trying to rebuild itself. We also made a stop at the country town of Warburton and wandered randomly in and out of shops selling knick-knacks.
The weekend went by so quickly, and I am looking forward to what this week of teaching rounds has in store for me!
